Rush - Bacchus Plateau. I'm using the awesome new Tech 21 NYC Geddy Lee Sansamp YYZ! Tech 21 has yet again hit critical mass with this preamp! Thank you guys! Also, special thanks to All Music Inc. for getting the YYZ to my doorstep in no time! I owned the rackmount version, but this pedal is much more simplified and will be way easier to use in a live setting. I assume with the one output and no XLR that it's my best bet to run the output to a direct box, and then XLR into a PA? Hope you guys enjoy!
I'd be curious to see a demo of a not Rush song using this pedal! I'm curious what other tones it can get. Great playing though!
just run that pedal to a DI to the house and you are all set. Most DI have a 1/4" in/out. run to the DI to house, AND your rig.
I see these DI's a lot at places I've played. They get the job done https://www.sweetwater.com/store/de...MI2_Gzn5G94gIVlcDICh1qAgdiEAAYAiAAEgKlaPD_BwE
Andrew Barta said that the DI and parallel out were omitted because many other pedals have these features, and the price of the pedal would be lower. Good points. I set up different pedal configs for each gig and often have multiple pedals with DI out. Many amps have DI out (I prefer to use the Jensen DI on my Reiner amp), so there's that too. Parallel and DI outs are useful, I can see how they are a must for some, but I like the nice low price on the YYZ: gonna buy one sometime this summer.
The YYZ has sansamp technology so I believe you can use a TRS 1/4" to XLR Cable to run direct or to FOH
Absolutely love that riff, reminds me of a cool rocked out version of Bruno Mars' Locked Out of Heaven (if you'll forgive me for saying so). I was surprised that the dUg sounded less bright than the YYZ (on my desktop speakers anyway). Did you use the XLR out (cab sim) on the dUg?
The bass line to Locked Out of Heaven is killer, and Bruno has the best live band of any modern pop act: that’s absolutely a compliment. The riff is from the Zoviet tune Dame Mas, just bumped up a few bpm: I did indeed use the XLR out on the dUg, but I also made sure that the overall EQ response of each pedal was very similar: the style of clipping each circuit uses is totally different, the YYZ sounds crunchy whereas the DP sounds shearing.
