Hopefully not too much of a stretch, but instead of New Bass Day, here's a New Book of Bass day :). This came in today and it's .... beautiful. Just browsing through pages and not actually reading for now, but that'll come soon enough.

    Anybody else got this ?

    Enjoy!
I got the electronic version (also amazing), it is a good read. Very interesting, detailed, selection of basses and a great project by Mr. Lee!

I went to the Montreal interview and signing last Tuesday, so I just got a copy as well. It's a gorgeous book, for sure. My only complaint is that I can't find a comfortable position to read it in - it's so heavy!

During the Q&A, someone asked him how many basses he had in his collection, and he said around 280. Wow. I'd like to know more about how he stores them, how they're taken care of, etc.

I stumbled onto a copy of the book, wasn't really looking for it, and low & behold it was on a shelf at a BAM bookstore, it's a very nice narritive, of his bass collection, it's a large, heavy book, I think it was worth the $$$

  6. I just got the eBook version as well and I think I prefer it. I'm reading it on a Chromebook that has a touch screen and I can pinch zoom the photos to fill the screen and the resolution of the images is amazing.

  7. I'd like to grab this at some point.

  9. I just got my hands on a copy of the the BBBB. First of all, I thoroughly enjoyed it. But, as a person who has done some graphic design, and as a reader, i found that some of the design elements made it difficult to read. The black backgrounds, which work well with the many colors of basses in Geddy’s collection, are so shiny on print paper that they reflect hot spots from lights. And some of the type is hard to read. Red type on black background is very hard to read, as is gray type on white background. And some of the type size is quite small for my old eyes. I suppose that most of these issues would not be an issue with the E version of the book. But with the printed version, I found it difficult to read. I’m not a professional book designer, but these are rookie mistakes. All in all, though, I really enjoyed the pictures, the interviews, and Geddy’s narrative.

I got it for Christmas this year.

Better late than never I guess. It is impressive. And I bet you could kill a moose with it if need be, it is so heavy.

I finally got one today! It is one heavy book. Also got a signed copy of Boyers RIC book. Both books have some very beautiful basses in them.
