What pickups come stock in a Geddy?? Is there a difference between the ones in the MIM, as opposed to what came in the CIJ?? Been trying to find a set of pickups for a project bass, and been offered a set of these on the cheap. Thanks.
Not sure if there is a difference but I believe they are these http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/fender-original-jazz-bass-pickup-set?src=3WWRWXGP&gclid=CIuKnou3o7gCFWFo7AodChgAsA&kwid=productads-plaid^34106004482-sku^[email protected]^PLA-device^c-adid^14207111402 Excellent pickups.
So if they are those pickups, what would you pay for a used set, missing the leads and grounding plates??
I've seen em go for around $60. Without the leads, which would be a little strange maybe $35. I typically use my own shielding and ditch the grounding plates any way.
Hrm. Well I ended up grabbing them. They have leads but no grounding plates or mounting screws. Payed $60, which I thought wasn't too bad seeing as they go for $120 new everywhere I checked. Seller was set on $80 at first.
My MIJ Geddy sounds a TON better than the MIM ones I have tried. I think the pickups offered in the first year or two are hotter than the ones offered nowdays.
First thing I asked the seller was if they came out of a MIM or MIJ Geddy. He claims MIJ. Says he swapped em in favor of some Nordy NJ4's couple years back.
