Does anyone have pictures of Geddy's red Custom Shop Red Jazz bass? I've looked on google & Rush's website but I can't find any.

It's a bass he uses on one or two song of the set this last tour.

  6. I dunno Nino, that neck looks absolutely great on the model T, plus we've talked about the problems of having a body or a neck lying around, it just leads to more spending and more warmoth projects.

P.S.- Go for it man, it looks like an awsome combo.

yeah, that's the one he played on 2112 on tour, iirc. it's tuned down a whole step. i'm pretty sure that's that one. he had a black one with a tort guard as another backup. one was tuned to low d, the other a full step down. i'm not positive which though, to be honest.

i think the red one was on the drop d stuff, and the s/b one was on 2112. i'm not certain, though. i can't remember. actually, according to the tourbook, he had the main black and white one and 4 custom shop jazzes made in '96. so there's probably a few more we're missing.

  10. I think the black one w/tort guard was tuned to drop D.. he played it on "Driven."

I believe that Geddy's basses are made by the Fender Custom Shop but I'm not 100% sure.

  15. I think so, but I'm not 100% certain. (Can you believe those shows were almost a year ago?!?) At Philips Arena, I was in the club level and when Geddy walked all the way to the edge of the stage on his side, I could see the flame top on that bass in pretty amazing detail!

    I wonder how they sound.

How much do you say the custom shop would charge him to do that?

Something from the Custom Shop would normally run around $1800-$2500.

that's not too bad. kinda wonder about why you don't hear more about them?

  19. IIRC, when Rush played here in Vancouver, I only saw three basses, however, I did see a rack off to the side of the stage with four in it at any given time... plus the one he's playing, and that explains the tourbook's figure of his ol' standard, and 4 new Customs.

He played the '72 for the vast majority of the concert. Any DADG stuff was the black one with the tortoise-shell pickguard. DGCF stuff (2112 - guess he can't shriek as high anymore?) was the red one. Very pretty from the sixth row. I want one!
