    Hiya,

Today i am obsessed with this live video of Sabbath....Geezer's rocking a sweet looking white bass and I'd love to know what it is. Any ideas....?

Birch is still in businesses though John passed around 2003. John Diggens of Jaydee probabley had more to to do with the bass than Birch as JD worked there at the time.

Can you imagine a Sabbath-sounding metal band performing on stage wearing clothes like that today?

This wasn't live but they sound a little like sabbath and look fairly like em too.

  9. I suppose you never saw Sleep?

Naw but seriously I was gonna guess Burns or Mosrite.

  10. There was a stranger picture of his attire in BP mag a few months ago, and he was playing the Birch.

Maybe it was the angle, but the pickup appears to be nearly flush with the body and the fretboard is also low compared to most basses. Might be cool, yet unpluckable.:smug:

Looks like a short scale, also.

Since Sabbath had such a mighty live sound, it's easy to forget the absolutely ridiculous stages moves Ozzy busted out.

My Jaydee replica of Jim Lea's one of John Birch bass. John Diggens built the original while working for Birch. Diggens was even able to get Jimmy involved in the process and borowed Jims bass to get the specs, Jimmy even sighed my bass and wrote me a nice note :) Jim holding his bass and my soon to be completed replica. John Diggens was kind enough to supply a vintage set of Birch pickups to the project. Note the closeness of the fingerboard to the body , much like Geezers. This bass excels when played with a pick ;) 000_0065. 100_2046.

Another pic, my rig in transition from Marshall to Hiwatt. The DR201 is from Slade's back line. It was one of Dave Hill's. Friends of mine in the UK were able to get me one of 9 that were auctioned off in 2005 for charity . SladeHiwattJimLeabass001.

Sorry to hijack the thread but here is a pic of Jimmy signing my bass. Who knows if you contract JD to make you a Geezer bass maybe he can get the man himself involved. jimmysignbass.
