  2. The bass is cleaner than I thought it would be....

I like this record. Some great songs on there. In fact I think it’s the last great Kiss record. It went downhill after Lick it Up.

Good timing. Serving the song. And could sell out another arena tour within minutes. Not gonna hate on Gene.

Reminds why I generally loathe 80s drum production.

Ah how much bass matters when making millions of dollars in a stadium pop group

  12. The argument could be made that if the bass line was anything BUT that it wouldn't have been a hit.

I'm quite sure the G-D-A chorus changes are being punched in.

In the 80s we finally had the equipment to be able to play clean. Funny how now everybody wants a little dirt in their bass tone, after all we went through to get beyond trashy sounding 60s and 70s amps.

The bass line is actually perfect for this tune, in which everything except the vocals is understated, including the guitar solo. That's part of what makes it such an effective song.

    The drums sound awful.

  17. One thing about Gene, he’s had a long tongue--I mean, tenure—as a bassist.

Not sure I understand this point. Super simple line, and as expected. What’s wrong with it?

I've had the pleasure of learning and performing a few kiss songs. Not a Gene fan but those are some of the best written bass parts I've played. Maybe not this one though.

I’m no Kiss fan nor do I hate them, but the playing tight and disciplined. This is respectable.
