Geneaology Experts?

  1. Hello,
I was trying to find the origin of the surnames "Willson", "Kidd", and "Griggs". I know they're all names from the British isles (England, Scotland, Ireland), but I've gotten contradicting information about which exact country. I know that you can find any of those names in any of the three major areas in Great Britain...but I've read that "Willson" was a tribe out of Scotland, and Kidd is also common in Scotland. Can anyone help me out?

Aren't there webpages that do this...have you tried a search?
  4. My dad tried to trace our geneology. I think he had some success with www.ancestry.com
  5. Not with this kind of stuff. Ask a linguist instead.
