Genereal Rickenbacher questions.

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by mebusdriver, Feb 27, 2003.

  1. Which Rick can I get for that Tool sound? Who sells them for the best prices? What is the overall quality of the basses? And by Tool sound I mean that Sober really punchy, growly, almost distorted growl. Thanks a bunch.

Let me have a go at this. You'd need either a 4001 or 4003 Ric with roundwound strings (I prefer steels on a Ric), through a good valve amp, perhaps a Mesa 400+ or an SVT.

As for prices, use www.google.com and search. Also check out www.basspalace.com - Swami always seems to have a nice selection of Rics.
