Generic Strings?

A toss-up between posting this here and in the humor section, but taking the more serious route... What might be "generic" strings?

Somebody makes them.... right?

On the off-chance that someone buys them and actually prefers them, how would they ever with certainty buy them again?

Can't see why anybody would pay $15 for these when you can get Dunlop, D'Addario, SIT, or many others for cheaper.

If they're American made, there's a short list of US based string manufacturers: GHS, E & O Mari Labella, D'Addario, and GSM.

If they come from overseas, there's no telling...hopefully from the UK, Germany or Austria.

Looks like you can get sample packs and then decide what you want "your" brand of strings to feel and sound like. They can even create custom packaging using your artwork or theirs. Wonder who out there is using this company to produce their strings for them?

I would wait for a sale before buying overpriced overseas no name strings.

I just stocked up on Dunlop Super Brights from BSO..... $12 per 5 string set. Why bother with strings that will likely suck?

I just bought an SX short scale bass. Changed the strings as soon as I found a set locally, they really do suck lol

I've bought generic guitar strings before--they didn't last long.
So I've never tried them for bass.

The strings in an SX bass have red silks.
