I am looking for a compact combo amp for smaller clubs, yet still enough wattage to have presence.

Whats the concensus on the Genz Benz ML 200 combos? It seems that it's the cheapest amp i could find for around $600 yet the most wattage i could find....I am just concerned on how it sounds

I've got an ML200-112t that I've had for a year or so. I would call the sound basically "modern". The sound that comes out if it and what I hear when I plug directly into my Raven Labs headphone amp are pretty much the same.

It's got fairly flexible controls - 3 band eq with semi-parametric mids, 3 shape buttons and a gain/master setup.

I like the sound but I haven't had a lot to compare to - an SWR WM-15t cab w/Hartke head.

I've found the construction to be solid (I also have an older GB combo, the 135W ML-12t).

I've played a ballroom with it without any problems. I'll be playing a bar with it Friday - but I'll have PA assistance if needed (this is our first bar gig - private events & coffee houses previously - all of which it handled without breaking a sweat).

It fits in the trunk of my Nissan Maxima (on its back).

That said I'm selling my older one and possibly my ML200 to move to a rack & cabs setup. Not because there is anything wrong with the combo, just that with my 2 gigs this weekend (after nothing for months) I'm finding I'd rather have a rack/cabs setup than the two combos. My post on the combos is at http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=73219
