Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 - America-Japan Voltage Question Ok, so I am going to buy a 6.0 shuttle in the US when I head over there during summer vacation. "Why?" you might ask... well a new 6.0 here in Japan goes for the asking price of 155,000 yen - about $USD1600 (I can hear your pleas for mercy...). Normally, I wouldn't bother, amps are so heavy, excess baggage etc... but since I'll be in the US and since the 6.0 is so light... Here's my question to people with exerience. US voltage is 120V 60HZ Japanese voltage is 100V 60Hz (I'm in Western Japan. It's 50Hz in the East/Tokyo) The discrepany is small, and I actually use a range of products from the US (game consoles, stereo etc) with no problem. An amp however is a different setup... So as far as powering this puppy up, what shoyld I do? Get a transformer of some sort? Get the amp modified (probably by a third party as I am sure GB in Japan won't recognise my shrewd buying skills or US bought 6.0)? Or just plug it in and not worry about it? Any advice?
I wish the world would stick with one voltage. It's a real PITA to go to another country and not be able to use my 110v stuff. When we toured New Zealand a couple years ago, the sound company brought a transformer that was about the size of a single speaker combo but weighed as much as an SVT. What possible reason is there for not standardizing voltage after all these years?
Here, here Jimmy. Let's standardise on 240v 50hz. (shrugs shoulders and slides away) Sorry mate, just pullin your lariot!
I actually bought a 6.0 in the states, and brought back to HK. How many people can say that they took a bass amp as a carry-on, and store it on the overhead bin.
