I have Fusion 550, but I'm intrigued by Shuttlemax 12.2. How do they compare? It seems like Shuttlemax is overally better amp - lighter, louder, more versatile, but I love my Fusion and I wouldn't wont to make the mistake by selling it and buying something I wouldn't like in the end.

    Thank you!

If you love the sound of your Fusion, then why change?

I really dig Genz gear, but if the tone of the Fusion floats your boat, then I'd stick with that.

It`s the weight. I've found that i use my backup micro amp more and more, purely out of laziness.

Although I always hear great things about Genz, I would be hestitant to buy one as it seems current owner FMIC is phasing them out. Nothing worse than trying to get service on a discontinued line.

I had a fusion 550 for a few years and loved it. I replaced it partly because of weight but also just to try new gear. I eventually got a shuttle max 9.2. Both are great sounding amps. The Shuttle max has a little more versatility to it and can get pretty close to the Fusion 550. I do kind of miss the GK sound though. Very up front and has a certain growl I have yet to find anywhere else. You can't go wrong either way.

It's the loudest 500W you can imagine.

I was on the cell phone so I couldn't type a lot.
Anyway, it is very very loud amp. I know that watts don't tell the whole story, but you could fool anyone by telling them that it is 800 or 900W amp.
I'm still on the fence of selling it and, now that I've read a couple of answers, it seems that ShuttleMax 9.2 would be even better choice. Decisions decisions

GK has always been the standard for loud. Definitely the loudest 500w amps I've ever used. My old Fusion 550 definitely kept up with my old markbass tube 800.

The thing that intrigues me about the 550 is the three tube preamp section. I have an old Ampeg SVT-4PRO (3 tube preamp) that I love...and I know the GB Streamliner has a 3-tube preamp section and it sounds amazing as well...

If it has that 3-tube preamp "thing" and is super loud...I'm interested.

FWIW, the MBF800 Fusion has three tubes and is considered extremely loud.
