I've tried the 6.0 and was very impressed. But I read somewhere that the STM series are better. Practicaly impossible for me to try one out, so any imput will be appreciated. TIA
It depends what you want in your sound, one is all about attack & clarity and the other is about sounding like an all valve amp. I've a Shuttle 9.0 and had a Streamliner 6 previously, both are real good but I preferred the Shuttle. I'm still on the hunt for that "wow" sound though, and I do think that may be a genuine "all valve" job. No rush as I love the Shuttle's Ooomph
I think you might find this useful: Genz Benz Streamliner 900 - YouTube Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 - YouTube The Shuttle 9.0 has a low end that speaks a little more than the 6.0 and apart from the difference in power, they're the same amp. In the first vid somewhere in the first half he compares the Streamliner and ShuttleMax 9.2, which shows the difference very well.
Streamliner-VERY sensitive to which cab its run into. Shuttle sounds good into almost any cab. I found the STL WAY too boomy &'not at all like any all tube amp I've ever used. Ymmv tho
Also, look into the shuttle 6.2 as it has much bigger (better?) low end. The 6.0 was designed with less low end to not overpower the original shuttle cabs; but, those cabs have been updated with new cabs and they've been able to extend the low end to compensate. The 6.2 has been getting rave reviews. There are threads on here about the 6.2 and new cabs, which I'm spacing on the name of right now.
That's right, but I've never found the low end of my 6.0 lacking at all. Its HUGE! Especially with the settings as many use-bass boost on, mid cut on, mid freq boost etc. But even without, with just 2 Berg AE112's, the low E, & lower D,C & B, phew!! I must have "phat-fingers" tho, coz I couldn't get a non boomy sound outta the STL either. So, could be that & NOT the 6.0
