Hey, I use a Streamliner 900 (usually 2x15s) which is great but the midrange frequency presets arent my favorite. Could I (A) change the frequency points or (B) make it sweep like semi-parametric? Can anyone guesstimate how complicated / expensive that would be as I couldnt do it myself. I could just stick with an EQ through the effects loop but its one more thing to carry. Thanks. Steve
Steve, rather than making a good amplifier something it’s not and ruining the amplifier’s value, why not go and try different amplifiers to find one that more suits your taste. For all else perhaps you should ask the gentleman who designed your amp: @agedhorse.
It would cost more than the amp is worth. Find an amp that you prefer better and sell your Streamliner to fund the purchase. You will come out way ahead.
Thanks for the advice!! I love the amp and havent tried a micro I like as much or that sounds as much like an all tube amp. Its a sub genre thing, the mid bias on the SL seems more SVT modern rock and I do more 70s rock n roll ala Stranglers, Jam, Wetton (KC era) usually adding 800 to 1200 hz. Also no one carries a wide range of micros in L.A... music capitol. Any suggestions which micro covers that sweet mean grit and growl with class? I thought maybe changing the value on a couple of caps or resistors or sumpn would change the freq bias and might not be a big job. But if it is, then the EQ pedal in the loop is the answer.
It's not something that I would recommend. Try an eq pedal, but if you put it in the loop, be sure it can operate at line level and not just instrument level.
