Genzler Amplification Club

There was a guy...I think on this very thread, but several years back, not long after the Genzler brand began, who had (IIRC) 3 stacks of MG800 on top of three BA12-3 cabs - that's right three amps and nine cabs, who blew the windows in his house out.
Anyone else remember that?
[Or am I still hallucinating?]
Yup, he was down in Georgia somewhere. Showed pics as well. I tjink we may need to include glass protection insurance with each sale.

Just joined the club! Kinetix 800 and NU-Classic 210. HOLY HELL, what a rig!!

Current rigs are:

Mesa Subway D800+ w/ Subway 212

Ampeg V4B w/Ampeg 212AV

Ashdown ABM 500 EVO II w/ (2) Orange OBC 112’s

I run IEM’s and frequently go ampless but I wanted a rig that was smaller and more focused to run on stage for some feel. Just arrived yesterday and I am completely blown away by how this rig sounds and feels. Also amazing how much low end and mids I can get from the 210. I thought it would be lacking compared to 12’s but boy was I wrong!

I love the tone of my Ashdown Shavo22 (signature ABM-600 EVO IV). It's huge, crisp, and deep with lots of headroom. This linked demo is pretty good but I can get better with my current rig. Can this tone and others like it be had with the Kinetix 800? I'm reluctant to part with my Ashdown but if I could get the same types of tone with as much punch and headroom in a smaller package with a headphone jack for silent practice, I'm in.

I played the Ashdown ABM 500 as my main rig for about a decade. I LOVE my Ashdown. Having said that, yes the Kinetix can get you the same tone and a lot more. I kept the Ashdown for my home studio but my main gigging head has been the Kinetix since the day it arrived and I'm not missing anything!

Thanks, that’s what I needed to know.

I feel like I haven’t posted in a while. Lots of travel dates and backline. But, tonight we are in New Jersey and Rockin’ my rig!

Doing my part to spread the good word of Genzler! The bassists of two bands who followed us enjoyed my sound so much that they asked if they could use my amp and cab for their sets.

Not to worry, the drummer for my band plays drums in their bands, so it's not like I let complete strangers use my rig. He's gonna be exhausted tomorrow!

It's a different and cool experience to hear your rig from the audience and it's made me appreciate it even more. The other bassists sounded great!

I have a pair of TV12 cabs now and am considering one or two BA 15-3 SLT cabs, first gen. Would appreciate opinions on how these would compare in terms of volume, tone, voicing, etc. I keep hearing about the dispersion benefits of the BA series. I assume this just makes them easier to hear from different locations?

I play blues, blues-rock, and funk-jazz. Thanks

I think you’d be well pleased with a pair of the BA 15’s. That’s what I love about my BA410. Can hear it all over the place.

It's been discussed a little on the DB forum but is anyone using the stock Acoustic Array Pro for upright/doubling? I see Gollihur has an exclusive version with a bass driver but I generally don't want a lot of extended low end with DB so I'm wondering if the stock model would be a better choice. I'm not concerned about blowing the driver given the genres/tones I'd be using it for.

My Kinetix 800 arrived yesterday and I had a chance this morning to A/B it with my Ashdown SHAVO 22 through my DIY 15 cab shown and a Gallien-Krueger NeoIV 212. I wasn't sure that huge, deep, and crisp Ashdown sound could be duplicated by a smaller, lighter amp but the Kinetix 800 nailed it. Low end sculpting with the lean/fat/thick switch and bass control is quite effective. Fat gave the perfect low end with my DIY 15 cab but thick with an added bump to the bass gave needed girth to the 212 which has a tight low end. I didn't need the input boost, but the drive and volume knobs delivered a harmonically rich tone with enough saturation to make it sound full and lush. Kudos for the well-chosen EQ points. Slight adjustments of the mid and high mid provide good adjustment of the midrange timbre. Quick to dial in with no hunting. This amp has lots of headroom with exceptional low end control. My B-string was very solid. I had a Streamliner 900 and loved what it did, but the Kinetix 800 can cover similar ground and sooo much more.
Very pleased with this amp. It's a keeper.

I've used the stock Acoustic Array Pro with an Azola EUB and a couple different fretless BGs. It sounds wonderful and works well, and I prefer it's slightly more natural sounding midrange and top end to the Gollihur version, but it's a very subtle difference. The Bass Acoustic Array Pro does give a little bit more weight on the bottom, but I didn't think the trade-off or gain was significant enough to warrant it.

I recently picked up Jeff's MG350/BA10 combo. If you can do without the two channels and builtin chorus/reverb of the Acoustic Array Pro models, I'd highly recommend that combo. I'm AMAZED at how good the Azola sounds through it...I forget I'm not playing an actual DB.
