Geoff Gascoyne!

  1. I've been interested in hearing the work of Geoff Gascoyne as I have read an article a couple of issues back in Double Bassist on this man of the bass.but failed to find anything local. Funny enough I then came across him twice in three weeks on eposides of Club 606 jazz shown on Cable. I then picked up a CD titled "Pointless Nostalgic"with the next generation of up-coming Jazz Dudes "Jamie Cullum" .and again featuring Geoff Gascoyne on bass. Yes, he's no NHOP but still keeps solid chops..... in particular, the band cook on Monk's
    "Well you needn't". :D

I've seen him many times at close quarters in my local Jazz club and he is a very good player at home in all sorts of styles.....if you're playing "how many times can I spot Geoff" - try the film :"The talented Mr. Ripley" - he's in the Jazz band that is featured there!! ;)

He also writes all the arrangements for Jamie Cullum....!
