I haven’t read anything about George Mraz’s recovery in some time. I was wondering if anyone knew how he is and if he’s playing. For most of the time I’ve been a bass player he has been an important bassist and major contributor.

George is back to playing as of last year, though mostly just in a trio with his wife these days. They aren't doing a whole lot of dates.

When George Mraz is on he is on. Love his sound. Last time I saw him was with McCoy Tyner Uridium in NYC.

Name any other bassist who could hang with both Tommy Flanagan and Richie Beirach. Go Ahead.... I Dare ya.
    Thanks.

Very true, which is why Ron and George have done so many of the same gigs over the years.

I've been listening to a lot of Ron McClure's playing lately via the mid-90s SteepleChase sides with Paul Bley. Great stuff, as are his sides as a leader for the label.
