I was thinking about some of the comments that older members had made about how half of the posts here have a new face behind them. Talkbass is a continually growing community, and I can think of several times in the past month alone where I've wanted to know a little more about either a newer or older member than the small amount of somewhat impersonal information provided in a user's profile. I just don't think it's enough. I'm not suggesting that everybody here should be on a first name basis; I'm merely suggesting that most of the people here would benefit from knowing a little more about the other members here. So, tell us a little more than what's in your profile here--what you do for a living, what your hobbies are, things that you're proud of, and so on. I'll start us off.

My name's Nick, and I'm currently a freshman attending Mississippi State University. I'm aiming for a B.S. degree in Psychology, with a theme in music. After college I plan to go to graduate school, get a Ph. D., and open my own practice. Besides playing bass, I enjoy rock climbing, making music, reading, and especially driving. I'm proud of my body, my grades, and the major choices I've made so far. My only regrets are that I don't have a girl and I barely have enough time to keep my bass playing skills from dropping, let alone improving.

*I apologize if this has been done before; I did search for a thread like this but I couldn't find anything. If it has then I'll remove this thread.

    good idea!

My name's Gia and I'm in my last years of highschool. I live in London (which pwns your city, by the way).
I partake in the playing of the electric and upright bass, guitar and electric violin :D
I also draw, paint and engage in visiting establishments specialising in the playing of music at loud frequencies, to groups of dissaffected youths, while intoxicated on various meth compounds.
I like to outline my eyesockets with compressed charcoal and listen to joy division. I am proud of said eyesockets.
My regret at the moment is that i have no energy to get up and make some soup. I like soup. A lot.

Being 16, its very annoying, i smoke, and drink quite a bit, now that i got my fake id i can drink even more, i havnt smoked a joint in over two weeks, but that will come to an end at the weekend hopefully.
im crap at meeting people too.

edit: i got 4 c'c 4 b's and one a in my gcse's i could have done better had i revised, but i dont think that academic acheivments are everything.
I want to be an engineer of some sort and would also love to be in a band again.but no-one is interested in the same music as me, which is pants.

I was bitten by the bass bug at age 16. So I've been playing bass for 15 years, And I still suck!
I've been in many bands, jammed with many people. And I never stop learning.
I'm currently between bands right now. But that's OK by me. I find it very hard to find the right people to jam with!
I can't deal with closed minded people, or ego trips. And I find a lot of those types of musicians. (It sucks!!)

    My current setup: See profile!

Summary: Strange polish guy with a nail bitting habit! :p
  10. Hi. I'm Bryan. I am a junior in high school(sarcastic whoo). I have been playing bass for about 1 year and 7 months. I have far too much gear, to the ratio of talent, and time I have been playing. I have chronic GAS, and other shiny objects I like to buy. Uh, I'm 6'6". I'm skinny as a stick. I have shoulder length hair. Uh...I wear shoes?

    I'm outta ideas.;)

Name's Oyster. Pleased to meet me? I am a nobody. But I'm smart. I just happen to think about the right things in a wrong way and of wrong things too often. If I think at all.

Someday I will become someone. It is also my hope that I at that point in life have learned to channel my energies into matters that actually matter. I practice on this everyday, and I'm steadily improving.

    The rest is just surfacial.

I'm Brendan, college freshman interested in doing at little as humanly possible with my given talent of writing well (creatively and otherwise).

Bass for 6 years, rocking in a band called Voodoo Machine, and probably will come to a west-coast town near you this summer.
Vocals for a band that's in the formative stages, of the growl/scream type. Actually an offshoot of my desire to have my lyrics sung, so I just up and decided to do it myself. I'm pretty proud of them.

Big, hairy (most Atlanta TBers can attest to that), with a soft spot for wearing long-sleeve shirts with the sleeves rolled up to the elbow and neck ties.

Currenlty writing two novels and developing about 6 comic/graphic novels. Go through about 2-3 books a weak, reading wise.

As of this time, I refuse to change my Avatar and User Title even under threat of castration. So there.

I secretly have the hots for this girl Angie who works at a local Walgreens. She's smart, funny, likes me, and is very pretty. Droool.
