So I got to see my friend Sam's (spade2you) Stambaugh custom tonight, played it for a bit, and it's pretty much the coolest bass I've ever played or seen. You can see Sam's bass in pictures 354-361 on Chris's website:

Mine will be similar. Here are the specs I've settled on:

    -Torrain style body (ala http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46041)
    -4-string fretted neck-through
    -African mahogany body
-Burled myrtle top (picked out already - this one here http://www.oregonwildwood.com/Merchant2/Inventory/Full/2063.jpg)
    -Poly body finish
-5 piece neck with satin finish: quartersawn maple/purpleheart/flame maple/purpleheart/quartersawn maple
-Birdseye maple fretboard (with macassar ebony binding)
-Neck width similar to a Fender Jazz
-Abalone block fret inlays including a first fret inlay
    -Bartolini 3-band preamp (Model 4.7 A/P push-pull)
    -Kent Armstrong lipstick jazz pickups
    -All chrome hardware (probably Hipshot)
    -Matching myrtlewood headstock veneer
    -Abalone headstock logo
-Black pinstripe binding on body and headstock

Let me know what you think. This should end up being about $2800 and will probably not be done til late summer/early fall but should be well worth the cost / wait :hyper:
