OK, so I plan on blacking out my sg, so I did a little experiment involving the neck pickup. I used plasti-dip on it. Looks better in person than in pictures. Obviously messed up near the screw holes, didn't realize it would do what it did. Anyone know of anyone that makes black pickup covers for these things?
in all seriousness http://www.dimarzio.com/pickups/bass/standard-bass/model-one dont know about the back pickup though.
Look into the cost of powder coating or having the covers chromed black. If you're willing to wait for a bigger job to be done it might defray some of the cost.
I've considered that, but two things are keeping me from that. I like the stock pickup, and I need a bridge pickup and I don't think I wanna route the body at all.
the plasti-dip looks like it has given the pickup a more texured surface, so a sharpie would work. if the plasti-dip is removeable, then you should be good. couldn't find any replacement covers online and the only other thing i can think of is throwing on some black electrical tape.
I thought you meant sharpie right on the chrome. The plasti-dip is much darker than it appears in the pictures
I'm just always hesitant about buying new pickups, especially if I'm gonna rout the bridge to hold it, haha
being a lefty gibby, i'd be hesitant too. btw, another lefty here and i really dig that faded sg bass. where did you get it and for how much if you dont mind me asking.
