OK, so I plan on blacking out my sg, so I did a little experiment involving the neck pickup.

I used plasti-dip on it. Looks better in person than in pictures. Obviously messed up near the screw holes, didn't realize it would do what it did.

Anyone know of anyone that makes black pickup covers for these things?

a sharpie is quick and simple. black pickups w/black satin finish would look good.

Sharpie probably wouldn't do well on chrome, and I want reversible

Look into the cost of powder coating or having the covers chromed black.

If you're willing to wait for a bigger job to be done it might defray some of the cost.

I've considered that, but two things are keeping me from that. I like the stock pickup, and I need a bridge pickup and I don't think I wanna route the body at all.

Thought about that too, but the bridge pickup is attached to the cover

i'm pretty sure it's a drop-in replacement, so routing would be unnecessary.

the plasti-dip looks like it has given the pickup a more texured surface, so a sharpie would work. if the plasti-dip is removeable, then you should be good. couldn't find any replacement covers online and the only other thing i can think of is throwing on some black electrical tape.

I thought you meant sharpie right on the chrome. The plasti-dip is much darker than it appears in the pictures

oh no, i meant over the plasti-dip. i've tried sharpie over chrome and it just rubs right off.

never seen it done, but i'd imagine it would sound pretty huge.

I'm just always hesitant about buying new pickups, especially if I'm gonna rout the bridge to hold it, haha
