Ghost notes

Discussion in 'Technique [BG]' started by Paolo, Dec 8, 2001.

  1. I've a problem with the ghost notes. I can't make the classic sound of ghot notes. Anyone have exercices, trick or anything else about ghost notes ?

    Thanks

    How do you play them?

Use all 4 fingers (or at least 2) to avoid unwanted harmonics and curve the fingers so that the hit the strings at the same time.

don't think about them as you play - if you concentrate on ghost note placement of course they'll sound strange to you. it's not like you can just play one by itself and it'll sound great. it's a very rhythmic technique which can add a lot to your playing (particularly in slapping), and they're sh*t easy to play as well - mute string(s) with fretting fingers, pick string(s) with plucking hand.
