I've got a 1966 Gibson Eb-3 that I recently acquired and love it except for the bridge...tuning when playing up the neck is a bit suspect! I'd like to replace the bridge, but the replacement one I've found seems to be too big and will get in the way of the mute, which I want to continue using. Here's a picture of my bridge...

    Here's the replacement bridge: Hipshot
    SuperTone Gibson® Bass Replacement Bridge

Has anyone used this bridge and if so, have you been able to keep using the mute? Is there another bridge that would be better?

    Thanks for your time!

The Supertone is a replacement for the Gibson 3 point bridges. That's why it extends further forward. It's to cover the 3rd hole. That third hole looks like right where your mute would be. You could always move the mute forward a bit. I guess you need to ask yourself if intonation, or the mute is more important.
