Well, it's certainly not like the neck (w/ 2+2 headstock) on the G-3 I had in the '70's, but I've learned never to say never. Who am I to say Gibson didn't build 'em with that neck?

I've never seen a neck like that on a Gibson. EVER. Looks a lot like an old Peavey neck (like around the time of the Dyna basses and maybe the original Jeff Berlin models). He says that he talked to Gibson and they said the numbers are correct. MAybe he should email them a picture so they could tell him if it was indeed a "prototype" neck. He may not be knowingly trying to mislead anyone, but someone somewhere isn't/wasn't being honest IMO.

the PV logo makes me think that it's not a Gibson.

The only headstock like that I've ever seen on a Gibby was on the old Kalamazoos.
  7. +1.

I also owned a Gibby G-3 in the late 70s, but I also don't know every model and prototype that Gibson made.

That headstock doesn't look right to me.
