The rd was probably the largest bass I’ve ever owned, it was absolutely massive.

Second one arrived late yesterday. Almost 12 pounds (11.9) Yikes! Good thing I bench press Victory’s on a daily basis. Last one should be here sometime today, and older one. 00D82974-5B96-4A9C-BB51-663C8911307E.jpeg

Last one for the moment arrived today, the real deal, 78-79, or something like that. Still cooling down from the the delivery truck. What is really uncanny here is the resemblance of original models of this and the 335S Solid Body Guitars of the era. I also own the originals there, plus the 2011 RI. So much difference, while they both are good. Will most likely get another one of these at some point. This one is the Tobacco Burst, reminds me of LP’s I once owned. For now, I’m “On a Boat””. yippee! 660DEA70-D5D3-408D-AF4A-6E484C5251CB.jpeg

Not sure I would qualify as a member as it’s been since the early 80’s that I owned one but here is a photo of my three switch RD Artist in all black. Circa 1982.

I have come to the conclusion that you guys are a bad influence on me, lol! I need to know in your humble opinion what is the “Holy Grail” of RD Models . All comments are welcome.

I want to say about $799 list for mine which came with a three switch moog compressor. I don’t see many with three switches, so not sure if it was a later model and listed higher due to that or not. I did not pay the list price so it was probably closer to $600-$700 with case.

Anybody know what these dollars figures would translate into 2022 money? Remember my first job out of tech school was like $8500.00 p/yr. Trying to figure out if I could have afforded one back in the day. Bought another Victory Artist today, chasing an RD in the LA area at the moment. The disease continues.

$650 in 1978 would be the equivalent of $2,909.87 today.

  16. WOW!

No wonder I couldn’t afford one!

You guys are making me feel SO much better about my recent purchases. It’s 5 O’clock somewhere, go have a Beer or a Drink. If I was there we would be closing out the Bar tonight!

Ok guys, call to arms. Music Go Round has some kind of RD Bass supposedly from the 70’s. Take a look, tell me what you think this is. Red ?

Hey RD buddies, greetings from Prague!

I bumped accidentaly into this 1979 RD Artist while buying strings in local music store last year. I pulled the trigger, no hesitation...not many of these around today. It's a beast...pure and simple ;-)) 6BEEE64B-7AAD-4668-8801-0A96D02683B2.jpeg AE15F805-276B-494D-818C-6687D1E3974E.jpeg 5D21B1B2-D3F8-4B4E-9440-C53C6CF206F5.jpeg B5170717-7698-46F0-B3A3-5AA99F6D7229.jpeg 84D921B9-89D7-40CD-B15A-DEBBFD7345AD.jpeg
