Yes, I've seen a couple of shows where Giffoni played as a sideman. He's really soulful and has chops for days. Check out his cd "Contrabaixo Brasileiro" if you can find it.

Where did you see him play?

For some great fretless bass, check out Yuri Poppoff, also from Brazil.

I saw him at ABI auditoruim, here in RJ. The room was nearly empty... :(

He said he's going to Italy with Roberto Menescal to a Jazz festival.

There is a friend of mine who plays percussion with Poppoff. He told me Yuri is now doing some musical research on early Minas Gerais folk music, and he's playing only acoustic guitar...

So pra vc sentir o desespero...

Furacao 2000 no canecao!!! E a favelizacao do Brasil!

Sorry Dave... I was just telling BWheel that Brazil doesn't give enough attention to instrumental music. Brazilian labels are spending their $$ on mass production music, as usual...

  10. That's cool, man.. I was just messing with you guys to begin with.. I can't read Portugese! [IMG]
