GigMasters, ReverbNation, & other Referral Service or Booking Agency...?

Hello,

Does anyone have any good information about what services are most helpful in securing bookings for small combos looking to do more work at private functions? Cost-benefit stats & experience, etc. I understand that a good band, once exposure is gained and a reputation begins to build, will be much easier to book. I also know that an unknown band of high quality can be difficult to book, and a lousy band with many "friends" may book a lot. I'm sure most people also think "My band is really good!"

I hesitate to make claims of extraordinary talent or quality but we have been getting great feedback in the handful of venues we have been working. Can anyone share some guidance that will help us take it to the next level without going broke before getting there?

We are in the St. Louis area and are interested in private functions (corporate events, etc.) and municipality sponsored events.
