I'm bored. I love Jazz Basses. I need some eyes wipping. I like shiny things. I'd like some custom colours. Because I'm a colours lover, period. Share the craziest Jazz Bass finishes and refinishes you've spotted. I'll start with one off..

To the contrary, some of the basses do need to be mine. PM me for delivery address.

Just finished putting together a project I've been working on for a few months.

The body was an unfinished Swamp Ash jazz style off of Amazon. The neck is an Allparts maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. The pickups are Fender custom shop 60's, Gotoh tuners, and I believe the bridge is a cheap fender bridge. I had a Fender hi-mass bridge on it at one point but went with the cheaper bridge that has the slotted saddles which allowed me to better align the strings over the pickup poles. The pots and input jack were taken from my Squier SS Jaguar from when I upgraded the pickups to Geezer EMG's.

    Here it is:

I had made a sort of purple dye for the body and then finished it with tru-oil. The bass plays very well, though I plan on sanding down the fret edges a little bit as they are just a bit sharp coming off the fretboard edges. The thing that surprised me was how great it sounds though. My biggest challenge was aligning the neck in the pocket as the pocket was just a bit bigger than the neck so it had some play there and I wanted to make sure it was not only nice and snug against the body, but also on an angle that would keep the strings straight along the fretboard from the bridge to the tuners. This thing has some serious vintage jazz tone.

Fender's done these custom relics quite often in several crazy colors...if you have $3,000 and up to spend.
The Japanese definitely win the prize, though.

I generally prefer my basses black but that is a colour I like!
