Thank you Tricia, I appreciate it! Don't be shy, post your videos, I think women should be supportive of each other - it's a difficult world :)

And Tricia, thanks for starting this thread. I'm finding it inspirational. Just knowing other women are out there, doing their thing on the bass! Women who are not famous. Just people who love the bass and love playing it.

It's different for the guys I think, there are so many male bass players, and they are of all ages! We are few, especially those of us who are not young. Of course there are some, but when you start playing after 40 (in your case) or after 60 (in my case), well................

Thanks Rosanne! Sometimes I wish I found the bass earlier in life, but now I see that this is the perfect time.

The old Gibson EB-3 is an excellent bass for smaller hands -- I've used one since 1971. Not only is it a shorter scale (30.5"), but the neck seems smaller in other dimensions, too. And it is a very light bass! Playing it now, after playing 34" and 42" scale basses, it feels like a toy in my hands. Gibson doesn't make it anymore; Epiphone makes a copy, but it is 34". The Epiphone EB-0 copy, which is similar with only one pickup, is 30.5", as is the new Gibson SG bass. I do not know whether these copies are the same as the original as far as other neck dimensions, though.

KrisH... SX (Essex) at Rondo Music or Buzzards bass, sells a ton of short scale basses. Its a lower priced bass (less that $200) but uses good material and I heard alot of gud stuff about them....I'm waiting for a 4 string jazz fretless sunburst with tort pg myself.
