Giving a Bass Gibson Grabber/Ripper Aesthetics?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by GeoKinetic, Feb 20, 2018.

  1. I'm a big fan of the Gibson Grabber/Ripper but with their appreciation to the price they are now it's SUPER unlikely I'll be able to get one. So I've thought getting some sort of reasonably symmetrical round bodies bass and putting a grabber style pickguard on it. I thought maybe a Stingray might be suitable, especially if I got a SUB or an OLP, it should be pretty cheap. Or maybe an old Yamaha BB bass. Has anyone done something like this? Are there any basses that might be more suitable for this (that are relatively easy and inexpensive to get your hands on)? Thanks guys!
