The first replacement speaker for my
gk 200mb sounds for poop. Better specs do
not seem to mean a better sounding speaker.
(in this box) What to do? A new speaker
from gk just went up to about $150.(with
tax and shipping). Seems like way too much
for such a crappy speaker. The frequency
response is 80-2k, 100 watt power and not
very efficient at all. There has to be something
better or cheaper. HELP!! Also.. It has to
    be 5in. deep. HELP HELP!!

Most combo's use a box that's too small for the driver; you could so some modifications and put a 10" in if that met your needs.

If you can't find a speaker to go in the box, you might consider pulling the electronics and make a standalone head to push a speaker cabinet you do like.

It really depends on what you want from the amp.

Is that an 8 or a ten in there??? What brand/model of speaker did you put in?

Eminence makes a couple of different 8's and several different 10's with different specs. You might want to check them out at their web site, they can be ordered online MUCH cheaper than the listed price at www.partsexpress.com (no relation, just a customer).

Seems to me an Eminence 'beta' might be a decent match for that cab . . .

The stock 12in. speaker is made for
GK by Eminence. I used a Carvin 12in.
also made by Eminence. Much better
specs, but not for a small sealed box.
I'm quickly finding out that inspite of
its faults, the stock GK 12in. is about
the only thing that will work in this box.

Yes Petebass you did, as a favor to me, and thanks again. I think we found that it is such a wierd sized box (tiny sealed enclosure) that there wasn't much out there to choose from. That being said, I personally didn't do all that much looking so if you find anything let us know!

I thought so..... my memory is shocking,

Maybe we should try to ditch the concept of the sealed cab and see if we can convert it into a vented cab. My guess is that if there's a speaker out there which is happy in that size cab, chances are it will spec up better as a vented cab.

What are the cab dimensions again?
