I dont' really understand the deal with GK and the 2 poweramp thing. For me I'd rather just have a single 400 watts amp cause I can't do much with an 100 watt one. I'm only going to be running one 4 ohm 400 watt rms 410 cab so I figure the 700 is the way to go if I can find one. I don't understand how the seperate horn driver works though. Its not like my cab has a seperate input for the horn. Does the amp just sort everything out itself?

You can't go wrong with either one.

I recommend the 800RB, though. Fantastic amp. Classic Flea tone.

If you decide to get one, contact me because I know of a place where you can get one for a very, very, very good price.

In order to take advantage of the separate 50W horn amps on the 700RB, 1001RB, and 2001RB you have to be using a Gallien-Krueger speaker cabinet.

If I get an 800rb can I somehow run both poweramps into one cab? I just figure if ones going to waste it might as well be the 50w horn one instead of the 100w one. For just one poweramp the 700rb will put out more watts. I also realise though that the 800rb is more classic and maybe more dependable. Is this the case in anyones opinion?

    No. DO NOT ATTEMPT.

Personally, I would choose the 800RB because it is a classic. The 800RB has the classic GK tone.

Plus, you may want to use that 100W amp sometime down the line if you add another cab.

    Sulphur La,
Trip from GK here! If something goes wrong we will fix it! We made mistakes in the past. We are doing our best to put things right. P-Bass, sorry again for your bad experience. I know how you feel.

I had a 700RB for awhile - actually one of the most reliable pieces of gear I ever had. 2 years of constant use and abuse with no problem. Maybe some of the others haven't been quite as good.

    Sulphur La,
I've got one from 1998 going strong and a 1001 prototype going strong from 1999. I haven't had any blown speakers since 1998. Which is weird nomally I destroyed something every 6 months or so. Pre-GK years.....Keeps the comments coming...
