hi im getting a gk 1001rb-II head and was looking into getting 2 112 neo gk cabs to go with it but thet are both 8ohms? im a newby to how this all works? will they both become 4ohms if they re put thru the head? plz help
k just the gk site said they are 8 ohm? and my teacher said that if i used this amp with 1 cab it would destroy it?!
Well if I'm not mistaken you will get only half the power the head is capable of if you use one 8 Ohm cabinet. I don't think you will destroy it... or even harm it. I have a 1001RB-II and a 115 and 410 SBX cabs. Right now I am only running the 115. I hope I'm not destroying it.
i just looked and found out why. at 8 ohms the amp puts out 420w thats why it would kill the neo 112 rated 2 300w, the 115 is rated to 500w i think
Using the head with 1 8Ohm cabinet won't hurt it. Even if the cabinet is rated for fewer watts than the head is putting out, you won't hurt it unless you turn things up too high. If you use the head with 2 4Ohm cabinets, you'll be running into 2Ohms, which wouldn't be good for the head. 1, 4 Ohm=OK 1, 8 Ohm=OK, but less power 2, 8 Ohm=OK 2, 4 Ohm=bad idea mixing 4 and 8 Ohm cabs is also a bad idea. I'm using the 1001-RB2 with a Neo 2x12 and a Neo 1x15. Huge sound. Really big notes.
Actually listed at 460@ 8 ohm and 700@4 ohm. As long as you keep a tight reign on the power you will realize additional headroom although the 700RB may be sufficient for the 112s with enough headroom for ya.
GK 1001RB-II with 2 GK Neo 212s? VERY good idea. I ran that setup for a while and it put out some HUGE sound.
very good idea if you need to blow the balls off a charging rhino... just one neo212 gives me all the stage volume I need and then some.
im looking into getting that can't reallt afford 2 cabs but may syrech wat ppl think1 212, or 2 112's? i still dnt understand the hole ohms thing cos the neo 112 are rated at 8 ohms each? cn anyone explain?
1 8 Ohm cabinet results in an 8 Ohm load on the head. Because the load is higher, the total watts put out by the head will be lower. 2, 8 Ohm cabinets results in a 4 Ohm load on the head -- full power of the head will be available. If you are only planning to use one cabinet (and that's plenty loud for most situations) a 4 Ohm cabinet is a good way to go -- full power from the head. If you think you may want to go with 2 cabinets, you should buy an 8 Ohm cabinet and another 8 Ohm later. 2, 4 Ohm cabs will result in a 2 Ohm load on the head, which isn't healthy for it at all. Personally, I think the head you're looking at and 1 2x12 will be enough for most situations.
thanks guys im looking into a 212 now just concerned at the size of it but WTH! i want it. and i want that sound. then will save up and get a back rig any suggestions? could i get away with a combo as a backup? thanks for all your help!
The gk neo's are the lightest gear I've ever had. The 2x12 is only 64 pounds. If you're going to play bass, get used to moving heavy things. I played combo's for years. Nothing wrong with them, but they run heavy. Before I bought all this GK gear, I used a Hartke vx3500 (350 watts, 4x10) for years. A nice little combo, but about 110 pounds.
they were ment to be "really" and "strech" just trying to get my head round all these gk cabs at the mo and wot 1/2 i want
I agree. Please take a course in English grammar and composition. No offense, but expressing yourself in that manner is neither cute, funny, nor effective. People do judge you on the way you express yourself, and if you want to be successful, act accordingly. Thank you.
