    Hi all,
Just wondering if the Ampeg SVT 410 HLF cabinet will be overpowered by the GK MB Fusion 800 watt amp.
I won't be turning the amp on full blast!
Also how does the Ampeg SVT 410 HLF cabinet compare, say with the Markbass 104HF?
Are there more lows and less volume with the Ampeg?
Who has had experience blowing these drivers up, and how did you replace/recone them?
    Thanks

Also, anyone know roughly the Xmax of the Ampeg SVT 410 HLF compared with the Markbass 104HF?

The Ampeg SVT-410HLF rated at 500 watts RMS, but peaks at 1,000 watts. No problem with your GK MB Fusion 800. You can crank it up if you want to. I don't know about the MarkBass in that configuration, but the SVT-410HLF has a good range to it.

The HLF is all boom and clank.it sounds bland unless pushed loud .
Amongst the cabinets I liked least of any I have owned. Almost no midrange.
    On the other hand:
I had the exact combo !
MB800 and Epifani UL 410... KILLER
plenty tuneful at low volumes. Slamming at high volume.

The 410HLF goes lower than other Ampeg cabs, but IMHO lacks definition, it can make a lot of LF mud in the wrong room. Completely different than the 810.
The MBF800 will work fine with it, if that's the sound that you like. The Ampeg drivers are very available if you needed one, but it's unlikely you will hurt them with your MBF.

I used my Ampeg SVT 7 Pro (1k watts into 4 ohms) with the HLF 410 with no issues ever; only replaced the Ampeg cab for lighter weight cab's (two Ampeg PF 115 HE's), not because I didn't love the sound!

BUT ampeg heads are voiced VERY differently than GK heads... the HLF is scooped, as is the "baked in" tone of the GK ....
double the Scoop all that will be left is high frequency clink, and rumbly lows.
the Epifani 410 is Mid forward (and would likely sound pretty honky with an Ampeg head)
but is a GREAT combination with the GK.
I let the GK move along because a friend needed a head badly and dug mine...(i had just acquired a Mesa Titan V12)
the Epifani went so that i could get an EA Concert CX310 (loved that cab, still do)
Now i'm in a full Mesa Subway stack and amp gassing is completely gone (until i get the jones for a tube amp again)
