GK MB150E overheating and distorting!

I have posted this question on a number of forums as the situation is getting very frustrating!
My GK MB150E is just over two years old and, up to about four months ago, worked fine. Then, after about an hour of playing (not continuous!) the sound disintegrates, losing all bass frequencies and a lot of volume. The heatsink and the front panel become too hot to touch. I have had a tech run it under load but he cannot duplicate the fault. I play a Fender Lyte active bass, a Fender five string active and an acoustic bass with Fishman pickup. Our band is what is called a ceilidh band, playing Irish, English and Scots music at not a great volume. The MB150E never has the input and output controls above 12 o'clock.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this, and, if so, is there a cure?
    Thanks in anticipation...
