I am thinking of getting a GK MB200 for small room gigs, restaurant/bar & grill type rooms to pair with my MB 2x10 and/or 1x15 - both are 8 ohm cabs so I'd pair with which works best for the particular gig/room for an 8 or 4 ohm load as needed.

Now that it's been on the market for quite some time, any users of this little amp? after my LM3 blew and fried I've yet to replace with a small light weight amp and thinking the MB200 might work for me. But interested in any history of pros or cons with the GK.

    thanks for input!

  3. I have one I use for backup. Sounds really good but not a real loud amp. Works for me when I need it. What cabs are you using?

I like mine and it works better than I thought it would. I use it only for small/acoustic gig situations, but it could handle bigger jobs. It's a very reliable piece of gear and if you don't need a lot of power (e.g. low sensitivity cab, need to keep up with a rock drummer, really pushing bass and volume, etc.) or are comfortable with minimal head room in medium size venues, it's a proven commodity.

I have a couple of MarkBass cabs....2x10 and 1x15..used to play small room gigs with just the 2x10 cab, which I plan on using with the GK.

I have my MB 200 on my pedalboard. I use it on Sunday's at church thru a Carvin 410. Our drummer has his kick miced and everything else natural. I set the volume at about 11 am on the clock dial, contour on and everything else flat. It keeps up great and I get lots of compliments on my tone.

IME Markbass cabs have high sensitivity and I would expect the MB200 to work well with them in small to medium venues...with reasonable expectations of course.

I had one (misuse fried it a year and a half ago). It was bought for backup but served as my main head for a couple of years because I liked it so much. I used it for a lot of bar gigs and liked the results both with and without PA support.

I went ahead and bought the MB200 ... we have two 'living room' concerts coming up in the next couple of weeks so this should work great for that setting.
Should arrive tomorrow. Thanks for all the good input. :)

The MB200 arrived a couple of days ago. I like it!
Connected it to both MB cabs to get the full power and it's surprisingly loud with punch, clarity, and a full bottom end. For my needs this appears to be a great choice.
    and all of 2Lbs !

So tonight is the first of our upcoming 'living room' concerts. I'm told the room can seat up to 60 so it must be a large room..haven't seen it yet. I'm taking the MB-200 and plan on using it as my primary amp. But just in case, since this is the first gig with it and I'm unfamiliar with the room, I'm taking my racked SVT7Pro too. Will be using my two Markbass cabs that I can combine or use just one of as the situation calls for. Hoping the little GK is all I need. I spent a bit over an hour playing thru most of our set today so the amp got a good test drive. Now it's time to jump into the fire!

I suspect that little GK will carry the day (evening) quite nicely. It has always worked well for me in living room/coffee house situations and I use mine with an Eden EX110 which is much less capable than your Markbass 210 or 115. Have fun!!

My church holds about 400, my MB 200 thru a Carvin 410 with volume at 11 o’clock with no FOH, carries the room no problems. You’ll be fine.

I use an MB200 into one STV210AV at church with front of house support, though it could carry the 500 seat room alone in a pinch. It can get loud.

I have a customer that uses an MB200 with an F112, and he couldn’t be happier.
He is local to me, and I’ve played through his rig and I have to say it works great, it gets much louder than I would have expected as well.

The GK worked beautifully! We had a packed house and an enthusiastic audience.
I kept the vol at 12 o'clock thru the set, rolled off the bass just a bit and boosted the mids, which worked great for the room. Thru my two MB cabs the punch was solid with great low end and the bass and kick sounded like a matched pair. Wow...this little amp rocks.
