Anyone know what speaker I need to order? The place i bought my cab from said they replaced the blown speaker but it miraculously blew a few weeks after I bought it so I need to replace one speaker but I can't find what one I need or order for it anywhere online >.< I have the GK MBE 4X10 800W 4 Ohms model.
Go to GKs website. The speakers are available in their online store. Just make sure you get a 16 Ohm speaker. I'm assuming your cab is wired in parallel. I'd get the better Neodymium speaker.
So it blew a total of two times? Are you sure it's not something wrong with your amp? Using too much power? GK speakers can take a beating, I know from experience.
Since I'm in Canada I can't order straight from the website, i took it apart and found the part number and the place that supposedly fixed it the first time that I'm boycotting is the only place around that can order the part in. I'll keep looking online but the first time it blew it wasn't my amp. Long and McQuade had it as a used amp and it was in for repair for a blown speaker when I bought it. It's supposed to be an 800 watt cab 4Ohms and my head is 400 watts 4Ohms. There's a shadey website with a replacement speaker I might try.
A better and less expensive alternative would be an Emminence DeltaLite. They're excellent Neo speakers that will handle 250 watts program, and 500 peak. I actually have them in my GK Neo 210 cabs. You'll blow your eardrums before you blow the speaker.
Will that work since i'm only planning to replace the one speaker? I know absolutely nothing about buying speakers, i just know how to rip my cab apart and install them o.o
Yes, it will work just fine. Just make sure you order a speaker with the same Ohms rating. They have a somewhat heavier cast frame, but it's about the best speaker out there for the money. I paid $109.00 apiece for mine 4 years ago. First I had them in my Ampeg 410, then I moved them to my pair of GK cabs when I got them, swapping the Paragons into the Ampeg. I also replaced all the wiring with heavier gauge speaker cable. What most manufacturers use is a bit light for the power these speakers will take.
