I want to replace my heavy RBX 1 15 and 2 10 cabs with the light weight Neo 1 15 and 2 10 cabs. Any down side to the switch.
The RBX are ceramic drivers and more old school sounding. The NEO series sound different, IMO better, every note you play will be heard and they take EQ changes well. The MBX are ceramic if you like the traditional sound more but the power handling is less. If you have ever wanted to cut through better you will most likely love the NEO cabs.
I like the ability to cut through when needed. I like a nice low end foundation with just the right amount of presence to cut and to be clear. I am really tired of haulling rbx.
The NEO series cabs are a clearer sounding low end. You probably have the low end rolled back some to clear up your low end (muffled sound with bass up). You won't need to do that with the NEOs. After they get broken in the low end is very sweet sounding. Darn good from the start, but they get even better.
I recently bought a GK Neo 115iii. Very impressed. So easy to handle and a tight, dry sound with my new fender Bassman 100T. Absolutely no sign whatsoever of the speaker beaking up when driven hard.
Now might be a good time to research or reconsider the possible ills of mixing cab sizes, or just to play it safe get two matching cabs. I personally think two 15s would be very cool.
Are you saying youre not at least remotely familiar with the discussions/debates concerning mixing cab sizes? If not, Im not going to start yet another.
