I have a 700RB 2/10 combo that I want to run a line out from into a power amp to drive additional cabinets. What jack other than the XLR out serves as a line out on the 700RB-effects send? Is there enough signal to send to a power amp? Thanks to Dan or any other GK buffs!
Sorry I haven't kept up on TB. I've been busy working on the new website. CheNuts had it. Use the send jack. It'll give you plenty of signal to a power amp.
Thanks for the replies, guys! I've got another question for Dan: Can I run my GK 700RB under 4 ohms safely? I'd like to add another 8 ohm cabinet in addition to the extension 8 ohm cabinet I'm using right now. I think it would be a 2.67 ohm total load. Eventually I want to get a power amp to drive both extension cabinets but will this hurt the amp at all? Thanks!
dont run ANY head under the rated ohms it will suck to much power from your head therefore destroying your head.
I've heard of it being done successfully once, but I've also heard of it tripping the protection circuit. Not many people around here (Davenport) have GK gear, so I'm not going to be the best source. There's a chance it will work, but even if it does, it will never be safe for the amp (which is why the protect circuit will probably trip). It simply wasn't designed to go below 4 ohms.
Hey Dan. When might the GK website updates be up? I've been waiting forever for it. I'm about to make put a deposit down on my 2001RB in a month or so. I can't wait. ~Patrick
I don't recommend running the 700 under 4 ohms. It will overload for sure if you put any kind of volume through it. If you disconnect the internal speakers, you could run two external cabinets with it, or go from the send jack into another amp that drives the external speakers. That way your combo is still running at 8 ohms and you can have two external cabinets connected. What state is Moline in?
There's a place around Des Moines that carries GK, more or less (I haven't been there in a while, but when I did go, it looked like they were just getting started with the GK gear). If you're willing to make that drive, then you might as well head for Chicago. Not much longer and WAAAAAY more stuff to check out. Other than that, I've got nothing for you. Good luck---
I heard amps but no cabs GK-wise there, but I've never been to the place, so I obviously can't confirm it. Give 'em a call. If they carry the whole line, let us know.
I'm sorry, forgot to check on dealers. NAMM prep has me running around in circles. I can check on Monday. Did you try Elmore in Pioria? Also, it looks like Chicago is about the same distance as Demoine. Mid-town and GC are both in Chicago.
