i have a gk 700rbII and a gk rbh 210 cab. both i bought used, so it didnt came with the supplied speakon cable.

i bought a speakon cable and it didnt work. there was no sound. so i was wondering if you need that special cable to use it?

or what if i had a different head? will i be able to use a speakon on the rbh with a non gk head?

ive never really dealt with speakons before coz ive only used the regular speaker cables

and lastly is there a difference on the tone or power if you use speakons or the regular speaker cable ?

A normal 2 conductor speakon should work. Make sure the cab is set to Full Range. If still nothing, try exchanging the cable for another speakon, as it may just be a bum cable. You should be able to connect any cab with any head via speakon, as long as they both have speakon connectors. The whole tone and power thing is a bit of a touchy subject to some people. The main arguments for speakon is slightly more contact area for the connections and a more secure (locking) connection.

    Speakon Cables:
To make use of the 1001RB-II/700RB-II’s Bi-Amp
feature you will need to use the four conductor
Speakon style cable (provided with the 1001RB-II/
700RB-II head, and built into the combos for connection
to the internal speaker) to connect to a GK RBH/
SBX Series cabinet. This specially designed cable
carries the signals for both amplifiers (700W/480W
Woofer Amp and 50W Tweeter Amp) to the speaker
cabinet. Below is a table describing the Speakon
cable connections to the 1001RB-II/700RB-II head
    and combos.
    Speakon Pin # Signal
    1+ Woofer/Main Amp +
    1- Woofer/Main Amp -
    2+ 50W /Tweeter Amp +
    2- 50W /Tweeter Amp -
To obtain an additional 4 conductor Speakon cable
for use with the 1001RB-II/700RB-II please contact
your local dealer or contact GK directly.

Do not connect a Speakon cable labeled “Bridge
Mode” to the 1001RB-II/700RB-II. This may result in
    damage to the amplifier.

You can get the entire manual from g-k's web site

Just go to any pro sound dealer and ask for an NL4 (4pin Speakon) cable of the appropriate length. Nothing special...

The Bridge mode cable they are referring to connects different pins to the speaker and should not be used.
