So did anybody go to this or watch the extensive BBC coverage (much in HD) ?

There was some great music that I saw on TV - so I really liked Elbow - their last song was just inspiring!

Massive Attack were truly awesome - amazing sounds and huge dub bass - 6-string Ken Smith - not sure of player?

Just wondered what others saw and liked?

Oh and what did people think of Amy Winehouse - a bit tiresome now, when there was so much other great music!

  3. I like Amy and I think she'll be great when she gets herself straightened out. She isn't yet.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Goldfrapp.

Yes - I like Goldfrapp as well - good live band and interesting "retro-style" songs - a bit like Roisin Murphy- I bought her album and keep meaning to buy a Goldfrapp one too! :)

Amy Winehouse has a great live band - but she wasn't up to it at the weekend...sad:(

  5. Joan Armatrading was great- with John Giblin on bass.

Buddy Guy and Candi Staton were good too.

I watched a bit of the Ting tings- the singles were okay, but they got very repetitive with the shouty hey mickey-style vocals and tuneless drum-beating.

    Amy Winehouse is a mess.

The lineup was really poor, from what I saw. Jay-Z was definitely a highlight (and I'm very surprised to hear myself saying that) and Massive Attack looked great too. I liked a lot of the stuff on the Jazz stage as well.

Nice to see Stuart Zender in Mark Ronson's band but shame about the various singers they had...really let the music down.

Yes - Mark Ronson's band were good but Lily Allen was terrible !!

I was wondering what others thought of Elbow - I bought their album the Seldom Seen Kid and was suprised at how good it is - like a modern Talk Talk, who have taken that concept a stage further - Garvey is such a good singer and writes some great tunes...add in their use of dynamics and unusual grooves and it makes them different from the rest...?
