A guy over on the Dude Pit is selling a like new Fender FSR P-Bass (MIM) that he bought a few months ago for $450. He's including with it a gig bag, a fralin pickup (installed if I like) and a bridge cover. Is there anything regarding the FSR, especially a MIM that I should be wary of? Here's a link to his thread with pictures: http://www.vintagebass.com/thedudepit/showthread.php?t=7997
Was it an MIM? I'm getting a bit confused as weren't there FSR's that were American made a few years back?
Lindy Fralin P Bass Pickus are $120 for the two. http://www.fralinpickups.com/bass.asp That bass is for sale FenderĀ® FSR Standard P Bass at www.musiciansfriend.com for Sale Price: $449.99. Here.
Yeah, there was a Factory Special Run of MIA 70's Reissue Jazzes and P's awhile back, but I'm not sure if they had any that were ash body with natural finish. The natural finish J would be a standard finish on the MIA 75 RI. Anyway, as I mentioned in the thread you referenced, I have one of these basses that I modified: The MIM's of the last few years are surprisingly good quality for the money, and with a few simple upgrades, you can have a great bass. I also have an MIM 60s Classic Jazz with Nordstrand NJ4's that's equally impressive.
Thanks guys, I'm going to take him up on it if it's still available. He seems to be offereing a great deal. Seeing as that bass is $450 new to begin with and he added a red tort guard, fralins, gig bag, bridge cover and the bass is only a few months old..you can't go wrong with that
