and again!!! not as good a price, but i could drive there tonight!! anybody wanna paypal a brother some cash?
i babysat one belonging to a friend of mine for about 2 years. one of the best basses i've played. great tone. very low, kinda boomy, but it had a sweet top end that cut pretty well. plus, they just look cool. as for the weight, i didn't think it was too bad. i'd guess 10 lbs, max.
That big neck pickup screams "boomy"! I played an Ovation electric guitar in a pawn shop once, and it was very solid. Nice sound.
Stop complaining. I want one too, but notice how they won't ship outside the US? So I'm double frustrated: I can't afford them, and even if I could, I can't bid anyway.
story time... i went in to record last saturday... showed up a half hour before everyone else (i was on time, they were late). got to record onto tape for the first time. it was awesome!! nothing like the sound of tape! anyhoo... while i was poking around hanging with the engineer, i see a familiar case. it's light brown, says Ovation on the side. i just about freak out. i ask. he says i can. i open it up, and there it is! an Ovation Magnum III! sweetness! needed some work, new strings, neck adjustment. he tells me the story. he's babysitting it for a friend, and has offered to buy it several times, but the friend won't sell. i tell him the same story with my friend's Ovation. we laugh, we cry, we hug. everyone wants those basses, but nobody's selling!!
