i went to this makers site and looked at the SD-4; looks decent i was wondering if anyone has played this bass or any of the Godin basses thanks
  2. I've played them and I feel they are an outstanding instrument especially considering how relatively inexpensive they are. I own a Godin A4 and it's a very high quality instrument with great tone. The SD is also made with great materials and workmanship and has very classic, traditional tones. It's far and above the quailty of anything else in that price range IMO. If I were to buy another bass in that price range, the SD would definitely top the list.

Anybody considering buying a MIM Fender and upgrading components would be much further ahead buying an SD which will deliver similar tone (with better stock pickups) but the rest of the materials and workmanship are in a class well above the MIM Fender. The neck, especially is really nicely finished (with ebony inserts) and has a really nice feel.
