  1. I can't believe it's happening...Brian Setzer is coming to play a small club in Albany NY and he's got Mark Winchester(and the drummer from BSO) with him...I can't wait to see this cat slap that bass tonight....I think I'm gonna wet myself.

i think he means the "brian setzer orchestra". he has previously been touring with a "big band" which he has now parred down to a trio.

and he does this twenty minute kettledrum solo while the rest of the band goes offstage and takes a breather.

Is he on a moving riser with strobelights all over it surrounded by purple fog? Now THAT I would pay to see, although I doubt I'd wet myself.

EEKSBASS - So how was the show? More importantly, how did your trousers fare?
  8. well my pants remained dry..even after many pints of guiness..too bad the same could'nt said for my drummer(just kidding),and the show was great too.Mark Winchseter is a master at slappin that bass...and even gave us a short but (b)ass kickin solo oh,yea..the rest of the band was good too.all the classic stray cats tunes, some of the BSO stuff.....I think..( the guiness started kickin in) and some new original stuff as well.Brian whipped out the banjo and the pedal steel and even thru in some old school yodeling,I was in hellbilly heaven..;) the show was out doors under a huge tent right in the middle of the street complete with a "beer garden"(which I did'nt stray too far from)I really wanted to buy one of the bitchin bowling shirts but could not get past the $65 price tag...A real good show none the less....then we walked to another bar after the show and made complete a-holes of ourselvs..thinking singing karyokey(sp?) would somehow make us cool and irresistable to women...needless to say our plan failed miserably..but thats another story that I will not post in the off topic or gig stories..if anyone gets a chance to see "Brian Setzer '68 comeback special tour" go check it out, enuogh woodsh(r)ed to keep any slapper happy....later!!!

I got "Ignition" the day it came out and saw Brian on the very first date of his tour in Saratoga, CA...it was a life changing experience. Winchester is indeed the man. The show was over before I knew it and I wanted more, more, more. The crowd was pretty tough, though. All those computer programmer geeks with their Dell polo shirts were pretty subdued, there wasn't a single flat black Plymouth in the parking lot and I only saw a couple poodle skirts and pompadors ;-) I'm going to see them again when they come here to Santa Cruz, it should prove slightly more racous.
  10. bassbaron, you say Saratoga CA? I don't live too far from Saratoga NY....btw,what's a bunch of computer geeks doin at a Setzer show??just kiddin ;) It was a great show, hope they come back soon...
