Tonights the night.
I'll be watchin', will you ?
I'm not to sure either but I always end up watching them so...
I won't be watching because I really find the behavior of celebrities silly and boring to watch and their acceptance speeches tiresome.
That said, I want to say that if Charlize Theron does not get a Golden Globe for her exceptional and unforgettable work in the movie "Monster", then I will know the entire awards process is bogus. Her performance is what acting is all about.
I also feel Johnnie Dep should get some recognition, too, for giving Captain Jack Sparrow life and wit. I cannot imagine any other actor in that role. Without Dep, "Pirates of the Carribean" would have done no better than "The Haunted Mansion."
I cannot express how true that is about Depp. He was damn good in that role.
He was the highlight of the movie!
Agreed! Besides, you get all the info you need from the 30 second news clip the following day.
Johnny Depp is a sexy biznitch.
Damn, I cant believe I took the time to reply.....
Watching the Red Carpet bit on E! now.
I can't stand Ricky Gervais.
For some reason, to me, the Golden Globes seem to be carefully engineered to promote the careers of certain celebrities (not just Gervais though).
I detect an odor of "phony" coming from somewhere in the GG offices.
I won't be watching.....
Gervais is absolutely hilarious IMHO.
Foreign Press association is like 100 strong, stringers mostly for Euro news services. They do have a loud bark for such a small dog.
Most interesting is that nominees are often very different than the prestigious Academy. If I didn't know better I'd suspect that they could be influenced by unscrupulous Hollywood producer types. Together with the People's Choice you have all the worthwhile films of the year.
Carol for instance is a solid performance by Cate and not much Oscar buzz. We'll all know what the academy is thinking soon enough.
The Revenant is another visual delight and another great film from the latinos Del Toro, Inarritu and Cuaron.
I will probably watch it in the background, it's so freaking long.
Had it on while hanging out, was actually familiar with a lot of the movies today, and just saw The Revenant this afternoon. Pretty good picks overall, although a lot of the ones I was rooting for didn't get chosen.
Breaking news.... super freak unearths a 12 year old zombie. More on this later....
If I hadn't, someone would have pointed out there's already a thread about the Golden Globes.
Hold it down, I'm trying to snooze.
Very sad that my new favorite movie (Fury Road) didn't win
I just watched a video of Gervais' monologue and highlights of his jokes. He is the only reason I have even the slightest interest in that infomercial.
