I had a chance to play this bass a few weeks ago and meet the owner of the bass. It is an awesome bass especially for someone looking for a slightly smaller instrument. Despite its smaller size, it has a surprisingly very nice bottom end that would hold its own in a pit, in a small orchestra, in an ensemble or solo playing. I think it would also make an ideal instrument for someone in an undergraduate or graduate bass program. It is very easy to play and the over-stand on the neck and the shape of the neck block/upper bout makes thumb position a breeze. This bass has been well taken care of. I have had the chance to play two Golia basses, including this one. This bass is very responsive and which makes it easy to play fast, articulate passages.
