I am looking to take the plunge into a DB and have narrowed my search down to either the Golihur Estle Louis or the Shen SB80. The both seem like decent basses for the price and I'm leaning toward the Golihur based on Bob's reputation. I can get the Shen for $2K including tax, setup, Gage pickup and cheap case , while I can get the Golihur for just under 2K with a better bag and a stand. My only concern is the setup. The Shen includes lifetime setup from Ron Sachs here in Atlanta, while I would be on my own with the Golihur as he is in NJ.

    Any thoughts?

This needs to be moved to the Bass thread, but I would go locally. Nothing against Bob, just good to have a local relationship with a bass shop/luthier.

Go local first to a professional bass shop. "Local" means within a half day's drive.

Local. I've been looking at getting a DB and it's an eye opener. Like the term local.

Every one by me is 5 minutes from a capable EB tech. Strings etc the same.

    I'm still thinking about it.
