Hey everybody, today my music teacher offered me a half-scholarship to IMC's jazz camp, held each summer in Parry Sound. Looks like I'm going, so I need to get some audition pieces ready. ONe you get there, they audition you to see which of the bands to put you in for instruction, so I want to get into the best possible band, because I learn better when I'm with people better than me. So, anybody have any ideas for audition pieces to impress the judges? I'll be mostly double bass, but I might also bring an electric, because I'll probably have to use an amp anyways.
    Thanks!

I was there last year, GREAT camp, I'm not sure who the bass teacher is going to be this year but it'll probably be Pat Collins or Jim Vivian, who are both incredible, players, teachers, and people. Your audition isn't what you think it's going to be, they get you to paly some scales, walk through a blues or rhythm changes, then walk on a piece you might not know then maybe blow over it. You do your audition with all the other bass players in the room and it's really just a chill thing.

Ok, thanks! I've never been to anything like this before - how experienced is everybody? I can walk OK, and I'm not too good when it comes to soloing - what can I expect, and what should I know?
