any good websites for good play along tracks, drum loops etc?
looking to step up my practice game
The Internet is full of them? Do a Google.
Ask Google for the chord progression, then look for a video or backing track for that song - then armed with the chord chart play-a-long.
That is a great next step...
Or make your own using chordbot
I have heard good things about Band in a Box. I have been using youtube lately but the Abersold discs would be the classic go to for backing tracks. Mind you, I am busting out the fake book.
I'll just second Aebersold/BIAB. Two very useful, and fun, play along resources.
Youtube has a lot of them.
Go on Youtube and look up Quistjam- backing tracks for bass.
I've had some fun with those..
found him last night! def helping my playing!
Here's quistjams funky playlist
It's done by a bassist: Mauro Battisti
Ill spend hours on the weekends just going through whatever random tracks I can find on YouTube. Sit back, maybe sip a beer or two, and just woodshed.
Ive been focusing too much on improv and freestyle, solo/showboating stuff lately. I really feel like I need to start focusing back on locking in on solid slick steady rhythm and tasty grooves.
Eventually I'll get tired of that and then a few months from now Ill be on doing nothing but modes and scalar progessions and such. Haha. Get big into one thing and then eschew it for another.
