What do you think are good modern bass heads for some good ol' Rock N' Roll???
Eden, ampeg, aguilar, GK etc...
anything that works for you and doesn't breakdown.
On a decent budget, Mesa 400+, Fender Bassman Pro 300, and Traynor YBA 200. There are some great tube heads that cost a ton more, but these 3 can generally cover most of the sounds I like.
GK 700RB. see "ultimnate rock amp" thread.
Some of my favorites over the years that I have owned were an Ampeg SVT2, GK 800RB, and the Carvin B1500. But there are a lot out there. You just gotta keep trying until you find one that you love.
I also highly recommend Genz Benz
To me, none sounds better than Sunn... YMMV!
are sunn's still being made?? i cant even find vintage ones.
As TB's newest Genz Benz owner, I can fully support this statement.
As would I.
Oh, and Nikki Sixx agrees with us as well. And the Crue is definately Rock 'n' Roll.
Modern + Rock N' Roll = Eden or GK in my opinion.
nope, at least not to my knowledge.. but you can a few on ebay. But i know that the Sunn 300t (i believe its called) is the same exact head at the fender bassman 300.
ampeg svt-2 (expensive) or the gallien krueger 800rb those are my favorites
Glockenklang amps are simply the best in the world. Nuff said. Style is irrelevant. They work for anything. Start savin though... they're not cheap.
Are you looking for tube or solid state? I would presume solid state, since you use "modern" as an adjective (though if you were to ask for a good, modern tube amp, I'd say Sadowsky SA200, all the way!).
Here are some solid state heads which might fit your bill:
Ashdown EVO II 500
Ashdown Labs MK500
EA iAMP 500
EA iAMP 800
Glockenklang Heart Rock
Glockenklang Heart Soul
Mesa Boogie Big Block
Mesa Boogie M-Pulse 600
Mesa Boogie Walkabout
Ebay and pawn shops. I think it worth looking anf they are pretty cheap.
